Dr. David Swink Deaconate (Deacons) THIS AREA IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. What is the Deaconate? The Deaconate is a group of congregational-elected persons who have met the requirements that are stipulated by Scripture and the Congregation as listed below. They are servants of the Congregation in the loving spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord and are accountable to the Congregation. Requirements 1. Being a person who receives Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. 2. Being a person whose life is a positive testimony to Christ, manifesting the Spirit’s presence in word and deed. 3. Being an active member in good standing of Chilson Hills Church. 4. Being a person committed to a life of learning. 5. Being a person willing to commit to the active service of Jesus Christ. 6. Being a person who is respected in home, Church and community. After the completion of a prescribed course of study and with the recommendation of the Pastor, a candidate submits a written paper or is prepared to verbally present to the congregation their ministry. Each candidate is then interviewed by the Executive Team. Upon their recommendation, the candidate is presented to the Congregation for a final interview and vote. Upon election by three-fourths (3/4) of all votes cast, the person is commissioned as Deacon of the Chilson Hills Church. The duties of the Deaconate are identified in the individual process of the candidacy. The duties are identified as ministry areas where the goal is the glorification of God and the building of the Body of Christ. Each Deacon’s area of ministry may be different.
