For many of us, discovering Chilson Hills was like finding a pair of favorite comfy shoes. Wear old jeans or Sunday Best. Sing an old hymn or hear something new. Trust tradition or question everything. Clap and stand tall or sit silently in your seat! Come as you are! We simply want to learn from Christ and we are happy to have you visiting with us online today.
Visit the Information Table Whenever a question
arises, an event is on its way, or you would like to sign up for
ongoing opportunities, visit the information bar in the main lobby.
Join Us in Communion Communion at Chilson Hills is “open,” which means
that you do not have to be a member of this Church or any church to
share in the Lord’s Supper. Communion for the entire congregation is served on the first Sunday of each month.
Know Our Children’s Programs Parents interested in morning class will find
child care available for children through age two in the nursery.
Children’s sermons are often provided during the 10:30 service. After
that sermon, children age 3 through 5th grade may attend morning Sunday School
downstairs. Be sure to sign-in your child prior to the 10:30 service as
a pre-designated adult must sign children out of all areas.
Fully Experience Sunday Worship To deeply explore life’s questions or for moments of feeling alone, Sunday morning
CDs are available at the hospitality desk (or order DVDs). For hearing
loss, ask sound room folks about wearing specialized headsets.
Know Our Website Chilson Hills Church maintains www.chilsonhills.org. Visit this site to view information that appears in The Sunday Morning Herald, as well as each week’s sermon.
Receive Daily Devotions & Weekly Sermon Daily devotions and the sermon are available in the main lobby, thru email, and at www.chilsonhills.org. There is an opportunity to receive daily devotions via email. Contact the Church Office (kreames@chilsonhills.org)
to provide your email address. We would also be happy to send devotions
to a family member or friend. Each week’s sermon is also sent as an
attachment to each Monday’s devotion.
Hear “Chilson Prayer Requests” (CPR) Chilson Hills Church has
a very strong prayer ministry that is a vital part of our family.
Besides listing all prayer requests in The Sunday Morning Herald,
urgent requests can be sent to phone lines (via a computer phone
system) and to email. A CPR Call can be sent out at any time. Upon
receipt of the call, all that is required is prayer. Call the Church
Office to add your name to the CPR list. Be Anointed with Oil During Worship The Biblical custom of Anointing with Oil
symbolizes healing or deciding to do specific work the Lord has offered
you. If your heart, mind, or body is troubled, hurting, confused, or
tired; or if you believe Jesus has something for you to do in life and
is trying to get your attention, consider an anointing and prayer with
one of the Deacons. Personal prayer is strictly confidential and this
is an opportunity to share situations or ideas with the Lord.
Worship in Music Folks have been making
music for God in Christ for years. Originally they used pipes, harps,
“viols,” and voices. Today, at Chilson, we use keyboards, bells, drums,
guitar strings, and VOICES! We make a joyful noise
and we believe music tells a story. All you need if playing bells is a
good grip, if working with the choir, you need an ability to "have fun
singing" and to hold a copy of music. All God ever wanted was You. Come
join us.
Visit a Life Group Life Groups are smaller groups within the church
family who meet regularly, in homes, at church, and elsewhere, to
closely share life’s journey. Together, members face serious life
situations, ask tough spiritual questions, and deliver assistance in
times of need. Each group below has a different personality. Pick the
one you like best! We welcome you, any time of year, to consider all
groups and pick what suits your needs and interests best.
Join a Ministry Team Chilson Hills has many Ministry and Mission Teams.
Ministry Teams offer ministry to the church. Mission Teams reach out to
the greater world. There are many interests to choose from. Consider
the list in this book. Join in and experience the many rewards that
participation offers.
Know Our Partner Church in Detroit Chilson Hills Church is very proud of a strong, ongoing relationship with our partner church, Bethany Baptist Church of Detroit. We have regularly scheduled events with them each year, including a summer picnic and Christmas concert. Review Our 5th Sunday Philosophy Throughout the year,
occasionally a 5th Sunday of the month appears. On these occasions,
Chilson Hills Church explores different ways of worship. We seek new
ways to experience God in real life. We are open to success and open to
failure! Join us as we open the door to personal and spiritual growth,
and challenge our perceptions of what it means to participate in the
world with Christ!
Grow Your Faith through Servant Leadership Servant Leadership Institute
classes are offered during Sunday morning class hour at 9:30 a.m. These
courses require the student to regularly attend the class and do some
home study and writing. Some of these courses can be applied to the
completion of the Diaconate program. Institute classes are on a
rotating basis, usually lasting about six weeks.

About Chilson Hills Church by Bob Miley, Deacon "Chilson Hills, with its freedom from religious orthodoxy, has helped me pursue a closer relationship with our God and my Church family. My heart has been opened. My inner core has been cleansed to view other faiths and denominations--all in the name of Christ--to see wholesome goodness in worship and congregation--good people held by gravity in this world but yet boundless in freedom to the Holy Spirit."
