CONTACT: Kathryn Poppy (810) 227-9596, kpoppy@chilsonhills.org WRITTEN: February 25, 2009 RELEASE DATE: For Immediate Release See video interviews on You Tube-CBN, You Tube-Atlanta. BRIGHTON/HOWELL, MICHIGAN--Beginning this week, a Lenten Challenge begins at Chilson Hills Church off Chilson Road in Livingston County. "The Lenten Challenge is a time of concentrated study, growing and stretching the mind and heart of Christian believers," states member and Genoa Township resident Kathryn Poppy. "This year that study tackles the very popular and challenging national-best-selling book, 'The Shack.'" The book has held the No. 1 spot on the New York Times best-sellers list for Paperback Trade Fiction for more than 35 straight weeks. "The study guide for this book is designed to take us beyond the emotional impact of the book into a deepening faith study," states Rev. Dr. David Swink, senior Pastor at Chilson. "There aren't many Christian study guides available for this book yet. We were happy to find one next door, written by an American Baptist pastor in Milford," he adds. "The goal of this study is to create dialogue around serious spiritual and theological issues such as: how come God allows innocent people to suffer? How can we forgive people who have done heinous things to us? What does heaven look like? And who is God really?" More than 100 people are expected to meet weekly in study groups during the six weeks of Lent to discuss the book. For more information or to join a book-study group, contact Kathryn Poppy at (810) 227-9596. Chilson Hills Church is a congregation of 470 members, dedicated to continuous learning, unconditional love, and leaving a legacy of hope through meaningful living. About Chilson Hills Church by Bob Miley, Deacon "Chilson Hills, with its freedom from religious orthodoxy, has helped me pursue a closer relationship with our God and my Church family. My heart has been opened. My inner core has been cleansed to view other faiths and denominations--all in the name of Christ--to see wholesome goodness in worship and congregation--good people held by gravity in this world but yet boundless in freedom to the Holy Spirit."
